Turkey

East meets west. A visit to this fascinating country will have you in both Asia and Europe within a couple of minutes, simply by crossing the Bosphorus river (or even less if you fall in!). Old Town Istanbul is jam packed with historical sites, the world's largest bazaar, hammam baths, and is chock full of Turkish restaurants. New Istanbul is a cosmopolitan city which resembles the great capitals of Europe in many ways.

Leaving Istanbul, it's essential to visit Cappadocia, with its lunar landscape that seems surreal. Hiking, cycing, ATV'ing are all top activities to keep you engaged for a few days in this area. The real highlight, however, is the hot air ballooning which takes place daily, weather permitting. This is a once-in-lifetime thrill which rivals any tourist activity in the world.

Other areas to visit include Antalya, the Pummakale Salt Pools, Bodrum, and if you have a chance, don't miss out on a day or multi-day outing on a Turkish Gullet.
